Permanent Dental Hygienist Job in Napa, CA

Job Summary Wednesdays and/or Fridays ONLY. 6-8 hours each shift. We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Registered Dental Hygienist to join our reputable dental practice for Wednesdays and/or Fridays with the possibility of more days during the summer. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care, perform comprehensive dental cleanings, and assist in maintaining a clean and efficient clinical environment. This role requires a strong knowledge of dental terminology, infection control protocols, and patient assessment techniques to ensure optimal oral health outcomes for our diverse patient population, including pediatric patients. Experience with PMS systems such as OpenDental is preferred. Duties Perform dental prophylaxis, scaling, root planing, and polishing procedures to promote oral health. Conduct patient assessments including vital signs, medical history review, and oral examinations. Take medical imaging (X-rays) while adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control standards. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care. Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records within EMR systems such as OpenDental. Review medical records and documentation for completeness and accuracy in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support infection control protocols by sterilizing instruments and ensuring the clinical environment remains sterile. Collaborate with the dental team to ensure seamless patient care delivery across general dentistry and pediatric dentistry services. Assist with administrative tasks related to patient care documentation and procedural note taking. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist. Proven experience in dental office settings, preferably within general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments. Proficiency with PMS systems such as OpenDental is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and medical terminology. Ability to perform patient care tasks including vital signs measurement, medical imaging, and chairside assisting. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations concerning patient privacy and medical records management. Excellent communication skills for patient education and team collaboration. Knowledge of medical coding related to dental procedures is a plus. Commitment to maintaining high standards of infection control using aseptic techniques.
