Responsibilities Assist dentists during clinical procedures by preparing and passing instruments, ensuring all tools are sterile and ready for use. Manage patient records accurately using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, including updating medical histories and treatment notes. Perform chairside assisting tasks, including taking X-rays, operating digital imaging equipment, and ensuring proper infection control protocols are followed with aseptic techniques. Gather vital signs and medical information from patients to support diagnosis and treatment planning, especially in pediatric dentistry and general dentistry settings. Support administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, managing patient flow as a dental receptionist, and maintaining organized medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Utilize advanced dental technology like 3D scanners and medical imaging tools to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning. Ensure the clinic maintains strict infection control standards, including sterilization of instruments and proper disposal of biohazard materials. Skills Proficiency with dental software platforms such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing patient records and medical documentation. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and procedures across specialties like prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Experience with X-ray procedures, including taking intraoral and extraoral images while adhering to safety protocols. Excellent understanding of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures within a dental clinic environment. Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics, demonstrating compassion and professionalism. Familiarity with medical coding systems relevant to dental procedures to ensure accurate billing and insurance processing. Knowledge of medical terminology related to dentistry and general health to support comprehensive patient care.
