Overview Join our dental team as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA), where your expertise will directly enhance patient care and streamline clinical operations. In this vital role, you will perform advanced chairside procedures, assist with complex dental treatments, and ensure the highest standards of infection control and patient safety. Your proactive approach and technical skills will help create a welcoming environment that promotes oral health and confidence for every patient. Responsibilities Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including restorative, prosthodontic, endodontic, and pediatric treatments with precision and efficiency. Perform expanded functions such as placing restorations, temporary crowns, and other duties authorized by state regulations. Take and develop high-quality dental X-rays, including digital imaging and scans, ensuring patient comfort and safety. Manage patient documentation accurately within systems. Experience with Open Dental preferred. Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations. Conduct vital signs assessments and medical history updates to support comprehensive patient care. Maintain strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to ensure a sterile environment in accordance with standards. Apply knowledge of anatomy, dental assisting procedures, and ADA coding to facilitate seamless operations. Qualifications Certified Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) credential preferred however a Registered Dental Assistant experienced in general dentistry considered. Proficiency w/Computers. Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures. Ability to perform X-ray procedures along w/ demonstrated competence in chairside assisting including four-handed dentistry techniques. Familiarity with advanced dental technologies such as 3D scanners and CPT imaging equipment is advantageous. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages and collaborate within a team. *benefits applicable to full time employment.
