Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and ready for use in accordance with aseptic technique protocols. Assist dentists during a variety of procedures, including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics, providing chairside support with precision and care. Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced medical imaging technology such as 3D scanners and digital radiography systems while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Manage patient records accurately within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic, ensuring all medical documentation is complete and compliant with HIPAA standards. Perform vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures to ensure safety and well-being. Educate patients on dental terminology, post-treatment care instructions, and preventive practices to promote oral health awareness. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, greeting patients as a dental receptionist, and maintaining organized medical records for efficient clinic operations. Qualifications Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with familiarity in dental assisting procedures and terminology. Proficiency in using dental software systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation. Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization protocols to ensure a safe clinical environment. Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while following safety guidelines for radiation exposure. Strong understanding of anatomy knowledge relevant to dentistry as well as pediatric dentistry principles when working with children. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, including pediatrics, and collaborate with team members like dental receptionists and hygienists. Certification or training in chairside assisting, medical coding, or related fields is preferred but not mandatory; however, familiarity with medical terminology is essential.
