Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant/Receptionist to join our healthcare team. This multifaceted role combines clinical support with front desk responsibilities, ensuring seamless patient experiences and efficient office operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong medical administrative skills, proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems, and a thorough understanding of dental and medical terminology. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly, verify insurance coverage, and manage appointment scheduling using systems such as Open Dental, or similar dental practice management software. Assist dental practitioners during procedures by preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments, and handing necessary supplies. Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical and dental records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and documentation standards. Perform administrative duties including answering multi-line phones, managing patient intake forms, filing documents, and updating electronic health records with precision. Verify insurance benefits, create insurance claims. Provide exceptional patient service by addressing inquiries professionally, explaining treatment plans clearly, and ensuring a positive clinic experience. Manage office supplies inventory, coordinate appointment reminders via phone or electronic communication, and uphold clinic cleanliness and organization. Demonstrate proficiency in computer skills including, Open Dental and other EMR/EHR systems for efficient data entry and record management. Experience Prior experience working in a dental clinic or medical office environment is required; familiarity with dental terminology and clinical procedures is highly preferred. Demonstrated proficiency in medical administrative support tasks such as appointment scheduling, insurance verification, billing, and coding. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security is essential. Experience with electronic health record systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or similar platforms is highly desirable. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent communication skills including phone etiquette and bilingual abilities are advantageous for serving diverse patient populations. Proven ability to handle clerical tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10-key typing), and managing multi-line phone systems efficiently.
