Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant/ Sterilization Technician to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in dental assisting, sterilization procedures, and infection control protocols, with a passion for providing exceptional patient care. The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting dentists during procedures, maintaining strict sterilization standards, and ensuring the overall efficiency of the dental practice. Responsibilities Assist dentists chairside during various procedures across general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring smooth workflow and patient comfort. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments using aseptic techniques and managing infection control protocols in accordance with HIPAA standards. Operate dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and medical imaging devices while adhering to safety guidelines. Manage patient records using EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, vital signs, and treatment details. Support administrative tasks including dental receptionist duties, appointment scheduling, and maintaining organized medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) while maintaining proper radiation safety standards; assist with medical documentation and coding as needed. Maintain inventory of dental supplies and sterilized instruments; ensure all tools meet infection control standards and are ready for use in four-handed dentistry. Educate patients on oral health practices and post-treatment care instructions to promote overall dental wellness. Experience Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting with knowledge of dental terminology and clinical procedures. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for managing electronic health records efficiently. Knowledge of infection control practices including aseptic technique and sterilization procedures specific to dental environments. Experience with pediatric dentistry is preferred; familiarity with medical terminology and medical coding is advantageous. Ability to operate dental imaging equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners while adhering to safety protocols. Strong understanding of anatomy related to oral structures as well as general healthcare practices relevant to dentistry. Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment supporting four-handed dentistry techniques for enhanced patient care.
