Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments following aseptic technique and infection control protocols. Assist dentists chairside during various procedures, including restorative, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), ensuring proper technique and patient safety. Manage electronic medical records using EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft while maintaining HIPAA compliance to protect patient privacy. Conduct vital signs assessments and medical imaging as needed to support comprehensive patient care. Provide excellent dental receptionist support by scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and managing patient flow efficiently. Support the use of advanced technology like 3D scanners and digital X-ray equipment to enhance diagnostic accuracy. Assist with medical coding and documentation for insurance claims and record keeping in compliance with healthcare regulations. Collaborate with team members in four-handed dentistry practices to optimize workflow and patient comfort. Maintain knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures to ensure accurate communication and care delivery. Experience Prior experience working in a dental clinic environment is required, with familiarity in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, or endodontics preferred. Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques is essential. Experience with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; knowledge of Epic or similar medical documentation platforms is a plus. Ability to operate dental imaging equipment safely and effectively while adhering to HIPAA guidelines. Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical records management, and medical coding processes related to dental care. Knowledge of anatomy relevant to dentistry and pediatrics enhances patient assessment capabilities. Excellent communication skills for liaising with patients of all ages, especially children in pediatric dentistry settings.
