Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain optimal oral health. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, dietary considerations, and preventive care strategies. Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth workflow. Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Monitor and review documentation for accuracy, completeness, and proper coding of dental procedures for insurance purposes. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice in a clinical setting. Proven experience in dental office environments, with familiarity in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry preferred. Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and understanding of anatomy relevant to oral health. Skilled in chairside assisting, infection control procedures, and maintaining aseptic technique throughout patient care. Experience with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly desirable; familiarity with medical coding is a plus. Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security. Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively and work collaboratively within a team environment.
