Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to ensure safe and effective care. Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong healthy habits. Assist dentists during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize patient comfort and workflow efficiency. Review medical records, document treatment plans, and update electronic health records (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix accurately. Monitor patient vital signs during appointments to ensure safety and compliance with medical guidelines. Skills Proficiency in dental software systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and record management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control standards, and HIPAA regulations to ensure compliant practice. Experience in pediatric dentistry is highly desirable for working with young patients in a compassionate manner. Skilled in chairside assisting techniques, including medical imaging and documentation review for comprehensive patient care. Ability to perform patient assessments effectively while demonstrating excellent patient care skills. Familiarity with medical coding processes related to dental procedures for accurate billing and recordkeeping. Knowledge of general dentistry procedures, infection prevention practices, and medical records management within a busy dental clinic environment.
