Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical and dental histories, taking vital signs, and recording medical imaging results. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and treatment options to promote lifelong dental health. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth workflow and patient comfort. Manage and update electronic medical records (EMR) systems in Dentrix with accurate documentation of treatments, findings, and patient notes. Follow infection control protocols, including aseptic techniques and sterilization procedures, to maintain a safe clinical environment. Review documentation for accuracy, ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, and support medical coding processes for billing purposes. Monitor patient vital signs before procedures to ensure safety and readiness for treatment. Support pediatric dentistry cases by providing specialized care tailored to children’s needs in a friendly manner. Maintain knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and general dentistry practices to deliver high-quality patient care consistently. Experience Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in General dental office. Familiarity Dentrix is highly preferred. Hands-on experience with pediatric dentistry procedures is a plus. Strong understanding of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and sterilization protocols. Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and basic medical imaging techniques. Ability to perform patient assessments accurately, including vital signs measurement and documentation review. Previous experience supporting general dentistry procedures with chairside assisting skills is advantageous.
