Overview We are seeking a dedicated and professional Dental Assistant/Receptionist to join our dynamic dental practice. This role combines clinical support with front desk responsibilities, ensuring seamless patient care and efficient office operations. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly, verify insurance coverage, and manage appointment scheduling using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Dentrix, or Eaglesoft. Assist dentists during procedures by preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments, and providing chairside support. Collect patient information accurately, review medical and dental histories, and update records in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Handle medical billing and coding tasks including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 codes, ensuring accurate documentation review for insurance claims processing. Verify insurance benefits, process claims through systems like Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks, and follow up on outstanding payments. Manage front desk duties such as answering multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, scheduling appointments, and maintaining patient flow. Maintain organized dental records and ensure all documentation adheres to health information management standards. Support office management tasks including filing, data entry (10 key typing), and managing medical records with attention to detail. Requirements Proven experience in a dental office setting with strong knowledge of dental terminology and clinic procedures. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms; experience with Meditech or Athenahealth is a plus. Knowledge of medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), insurance verification processes, and Medicare guidelines. Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and health information management software. Excellent customer service skills paired with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities. Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy in documentation review and data entry. Bilingual skills are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively. Previous dental clinic or medical office experience is preferred; familiarity with dental office management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft is advantageous.
