Permanent Dental Assistant Job in Roanoke, VA

Well-established, modern dental practice in Cave Spring is seeking a full-time dental assistant. This thriving practice has an excellent reputation in the community. The ideal candidate will have strong initiative and problem solving skills, and enjoy working in a people-focused environment. A positive attitude, compassion towards patients, and strong organizational skills are a must. Experience with digital software and radiographs is preferred. Responsibilities: Work collaboratively as part of a team Competence with basic dental software Implementation of standard office practices and procedures, and proper use and care of dental equipment Prepare patients for dental work Help with infection control by sterilizing and disinfecting instruments, setting up instrument trays, preparing materials, and assisting with dental procedures. Assist dentists in managing medical and dental emergencies when necessary. Assist dental hygienists with procedures when necessary. Provide great patient care. Record treatment information in patient records. Expose dental x-rays from dental diagnostics and care for dental x-ray equipment. Give patients information on dental hygiene, oral health care, and plaque control programs. Collect and record medical and dental histories and patient vital signs. Provide postoperative instructions as directed by the dentist. Form preliminary impressions and intraoral scans for study models. Requirements: Strong communication and interpersonal skills Good time management skills and an ability to stay on schedule Ability to work as part of a team Physical requirements: May require long periods of sitting or standing.
