Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. As a Dental Assistant, you will support dentists in delivering comprehensive dental treatments, ensuring patient comfort, and maintaining the highest standards of infection control and clinical efficiency. Duties Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental chairs, and organizing necessary supplies in accordance with aseptic techniques. Assist dentists during various procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry by handing instruments and managing dental materials. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed to obtain accurate medical imaging. Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring all documentation complies with HIPAA regulations. Monitor vital signs of patients before procedures to ensure their safety and comfort throughout treatment. Provide chairside assistance during procedures, maintaining a sterile environment while supporting the dentist’s workflow efficiently. Educate patients on post-treatment care, oral hygiene practices, and answer questions related to dental terminology and procedures. Maintain infection control standards by adhering to strict sterilization protocols and managing medical documentation accurately within the clinic’s medical records system. Support the dental reception team by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow to optimize clinic operations. Utilize advanced technology such as 3D scanners for prosthodontics or orthodontic planning when applicable to enhance treatment outcomes. Skills Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, infection control, and aseptic technique. Experience with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for efficient medical documentation and record management. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry and pediatrics. Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners with precision and safety awareness. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices to effectively support young patients’ needs in a compassionate manner. Strong understanding of infection control protocols aligned with OSHA standards to ensure a safe clinical environment. Excellent communication skills for interacting effectively with patients of all ages as well as collaborating with the dental team on four-handed dentistry techniques. Basic knowledge of medical coding related to dental procedures for accurate billing processes. Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced general dentistry setting while maintaining attention to detail in all aspects of patient care.
