Duties: Assisting the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures Taking dental radiographs (x-rays) Asking about the patient's medical history and taking blood pressure and pulse Preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment Helping patients feel comfortable before, during and after dental treatment Providing patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures, such as the placement of a restoration (filling) Teaching patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling) Communicating with patients Organizing and stocking operatories, sterilization, the lab and the supply closet Helping to provide direct patient care in all dental specialties, including pediatric dentistry, periodontics and oral surgery Assist in basic supportive chairside procedures Chart existing restorations, clinically missing teeth, and appliances within the oral cavity Apply topical drugs as prescribed by the dentist Take and record vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, respiration, etc.) Expose radiographs upon completion of a Board approved radiation safety course Take impressions/digital scans for study models Cement temporary crowns or bridges Remove excess cement from restorations Job Type: Full-time Pay: $30.00 - $32.00 per hour Benefits: 401(k) 401(k) matching Dental insurance Dependent health insurance coverage Employee discount Health insurance Paid time off Retirement plan Uniform allowance Vision insurance Experience: Dental assisting: 2 years (Required) License/Certification: degree/certificate from an ADA-accredited program (Required) X-Ray Certification in the state of South Carolina SC (Required) Work Location: In person
