Key Responsibilities: Clinical & Chairside Duties Assist the Orthodontist: Provide direct chairside assistance during routine appointments, adjustments, and emergency visits. Prepare for Procedures: Set up treatment trays, instruments, and materials needed for the day's scheduled procedures. Appliance Placement & Removal: Assist with or perform (depending on state regulations) the placement and removal of brackets, bands, archwires, and orthodontic appliances. Diagnostic Records: Take high-quality, precise digital scans (e.g., 3D Scan), radiographs and intraoral/extraoral clinical photographs. Chart Management: Accurately document patient treatments, progress notes, and future appointment needs in the electronic dental record system. Patient Care & Education Patient Onboarding: Greet and seat patients, making them feel comfortable and answering any preliminary questions. Oral Hygiene Instruction: Educate patients and parents on proper brushing and flossing techniques while wearing braces or clear aligners. Appliance Care: Provide detailed instructions on how to care for aligners, retainers, rubber bands, expanders, and other orthodontic appliances. Comfort Management: Address patient concerns, handle minor orthodontic emergencies (like clipping poking wires), and ensure a positive, stress-free experience. Sterilization & Lab Maintenance Infection Control: Strictly adhere to OSHA, CDC, and state board guidelines for infection control and sterilization. Instrument Processing: Clean, sterilize, and properly store all dental instruments and equipment. Operatory Turnaround: Thoroughly disinfect and prepare dental chairs and operatory rooms between patients. Lab Work: Print 3D dental models and fabricate Essix retainers Inventory Management: Monitor clinical supplies, alert management when stock is low, and assist in ordering materials. Appliance Placement & Removal: Assist with placement and removal of brackets, bands, archwires, and orthodontic appliances. Qualifications: A passion for helping people and building strong patient relationships. Ability to work as part of a team with a positive, âcan-doâ attitude. Strong communication and organizational skills. Willingness to learn new skills and adapt in a fast-paced environment. Open to being trained in clinical orthodontics procedures.
