Duties Assist orthodontists during various procedures including bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings with precision and care. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary tools, and maintaining aseptic technique to uphold infection control standards. Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging using advanced equipment such as 3D scanners, ensuring accurate positioning and patient comfort. Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic to document patient histories, treatment plans, and progress notes while ensuring HIPAA compliance for patient privacy. Educate patients on orthodontic care instructions, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices tailored for pediatric dentistry and general dentistry patients. Support administrative tasks including scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist and managing medical documentation with meticulous attention to detail. Monitor vital signs during appointments, assist with medical coding for procedures, and ensure all clinical activities adhere to infection control protocols. Qualifications Proven experience as a dental assistant in a clinical setting with knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic is highly desirable. Certification in X-ray techniques and proficiency in chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry practices. Strong understanding of infection control procedures, aseptic technique, and medical documentation standards. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, orthodontics, and general dentistry procedures is preferred. Ability to communicate effectively using dental terminology and explain treatment plans clearly to patients of all ages.
