Bilingual Dental Assistant Job Description (English & Spanish Preferred) Position Title: Bilingual Dental Assistant Department: Clinical Reports To: Dentist / Office Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Position Summary We are seeking a reliable and compassionate Bilingual Dental Assistant (English/Spanish) to join our team. The Dental Assistant will support the dentist during clinical procedures, ensure patient comfort, and help maintain an efficient and welcoming environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to effectively communicate with both English- and Spanish-speaking patients and families. Key Responsibilities Clinical Duties Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures (fillings, crowns, extractions, etc.) Prepare and sterilize instruments and operatories Take dental radiographs (X-rays) as required Perform chairside assisting using proper four-handed dentistry techniques Ensure all equipment is cleaned, disinfected, and ready for patient use Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation Patient Care Greet and prepare patients for treatment Explain procedures and post-operative instructions in both English and Spanish Ensure patient comfort before, during, and after procedures Provide oral hygiene education to patients and parents (especially in pediatric settings) Administrative Support Assist with scheduling and patient flow as needed Maintain inventory and restock clinical supplies Follow OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control protocols Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Dental Assistant certification preferred (state requirements apply) X-ray certification (if required by state) Bilingual in English and Spanish (required or strongly preferred) Previous dental assisting experience preferred (pediatric experience a plus) Skills & Competencies Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Compassionate and patient-focused approach Attention to detail and organization Team-oriented with a positive attitude Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods Manual dexterity for handling instruments Ability to lift up to 25 lbs (equipment/supplies) Work Environment Clinical dental setting with exposure to standard dental equipment and materials Must adhere to strict infection control and safety guidelines
