Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in dental assisting, with expertise in supporting various dental procedures, managing patient care, and maintaining a sterile environment. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary practice that emphasizes pediatric dentistry, orthodontics, and general dentistry services. The Dental Assistant will play a vital role in ensuring smooth clinic operations while delivering exceptional patient experiences. Duties Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including orthodontic, and pediatric treatments, ensuring efficient chairside support. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and maintaining infection control protocols in accordance with aseptic techniques and HIPAA regulations. Take digital dental radiographs (X-ray) and operate advanced medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning. Manage patient records using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Dentrix, to ensure accurate documentation of medical history, dental terminology, and treatment details. Perform vital signs assessments and assist with medical documentation to support comprehensive patient care. Support administrative tasks including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and acting as a dental receptionist when needed to enhance patient flow. Maintain knowledge of anatomy relevant to dentistry and stay updated on infection control standards to uphold safety within the clinic environment. Requirements Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with familiarity in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, orthodontics, or prosthodontics preferred. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix, experience with medical coding and medical records management is advantageous. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and infection control practices essential for safeguarding patient privacy and safety. Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while adhering to safety standards; certification in radiography preferred. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and clinical procedures including chairside assisting and aseptic techniques. Excellent communication skills combined with the ability to work effectively within a team environment practicing four-handed dentistry techniques. Certification in CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional training in pediatric dentistry or orthodontics is a plus.
