Overview We are seeking a motivated, upbeat, and dependable EXPERIENCED Orthodontic Assistant to join our orthodontic team. The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of experience as an orthodontic assistant and enjoys working with children, teens, and adults, thrives in a fast-paced clinical setting, and demonstrates professional communication and teamwork skills. About Our Practice King, McCune & Moore Orthodontics has proudly served the Atlanta community since 1972. Founded by Dr. King, our private practice is now led by Dr. McCune and Dr. Moore. We are a well-established, single-location office with a loyal patient base and a reputation for providing exceptional orthodontic care in a warm, professional environment. We are a small team that values positivity, teamwork, and long-term relationships - with both our patients and each other. Responsibilities Assist the orthodontist chairside during procedures Prepare patients for orthodontic procedures and ensure comfort throughout appointments Maintain accurate and timely clinical charting in OrthoTrac Take and upload digital panoramic and cephalometric x-rays, diagnostic photos, and intraoral scans via iTero Change archwires, ties, and other orthodontic appliances under doctor supervision Maintain tooth isolation during procedures to ensure successful initial full-arch bonding, rebonding, and appliance bonding appointments Support corrective clear aligner systems, such as Invisalign, by creating patient profiles, uploading patient records, tracking aligner prescriptions/deliveries, loading bonding templates, and bonding aligner attachments Take alginate impressions and fabricate retainers (as trained) Provide oral hygiene and appliance care instructions to patients and parents Maintain sterilization protocols, OSHA compliance standards, and contribute to required weekly/monthly/quarterly maintenance of support equipment Set up and break down chairside units efficiently and contribute to sterilization workflows throughout the workday Support a smooth and productive daily schedule while maintaining the highest quality patient care and customer service Qualifications High school diploma or GED is required At least 2 years of orthodontic assisting experience is required - (Not experience as a sterilization or records tech - or - as an orthodontic admin team member) - But experience working on orthodontic patients at a practice dedicated to orthodontics Working knowledge of dental terminology, dental anatomy, and Palmer Notation tooth numbering system Working knowledge of OrthoTrac, Invisalign, Angel Aligner, iTero, and/or Weave is a plus Excellent and professional verbal communication and customer service skills Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and strong multitasking skills Ability to work well within a small, collaborative team Comfortable in a busy, fast-paced environment with the ability to adjust to shifting priorities Schedule Information Our schedule is set 3-4 months in advance and operates on a rotating structure: 4 patient care clinical days one week 3 patient care clinical days the following week Typical hours: 7:45 AM â 5:00 PM with lunch: 1:00 PM â 2:00 PM Approximately every 6 weeks: 7:00 AM start Typically 7 working days per biweekly pay period For highly motivated individuals seeking full-time hours, accommodations may be considered. Please note: We are very busy during non-major school/government holidays, school breaks, and summer break - During these times, we need all hands on deck and a team ready to work together to get the job done!
