Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly. Assist dentists during various procedures including exams, restorations, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry with precision and care. Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced medical imaging technology such as 3D scanners while adhering to strict infection control protocols. Manage patient records accurately using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, suctioning, and monitoring vital signs to ensure patient safety throughout treatments. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care to promote long-term dental health. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, greeting patients as a dental receptionist, and maintaining organized medical documentation. Skills Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry and aseptic technique to ensure efficient workflow. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control standards, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry. Experience with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for managing medical records and documentation accurately. Familiarity with medical coding procedures related to dental procedures for insurance billing purposes. Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners with precision. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices and experience working with children is highly desirable.
