Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to promote healthy smiles. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to develop personalized care plans. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, dietary considerations, and preventive care strategies to enhance long-term oral health. Assist with chairside procedures in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency. Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Review and update medical records accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Collaborate with dentists and team members to ensure seamless patient care, including documentation review and medical coding for billing purposes. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice in a dental setting. Proven experience in dental office environments, preferably with exposure to pediatric dentistry and general dentistry procedures. Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and understanding of anatomy relevant to oral health. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation and record management. Knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures to maintain a safe clinical environment. Strong patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs effectively and communicate clearly. Ability to perform vital signs measurement, medical imaging, and assist with dental procedures confidently. Excellent organizational skills for managing medical records, documentation review, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
