Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to promote optimal oral health. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, taking vital signs, and evaluating oral conditions. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options to enhance their understanding and engagement. Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficiency and patient comfort. Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed. Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records, treatment plans, and medical histories in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Follow infection control protocols adhering to HIPAA regulations, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures to ensure a safe environment for all. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice. Proven experience in general dentistry with a strong background in dental assisting and patient care. Proficiency with dental office management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control standards. Experience working with pediatric dentistry patients is highly desirable. Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs and medical record review. Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance, documentation review, and medical coding practices.
