Responsibilities Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including restorations in pediatric dentistry with precision and efficiency. Perform chairside assisting using aseptic techniques, ensuring a sterile environment for all treatments. Take and digital radiographs (X-rays), , while adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy. Manage electronic medical records using Open Dental ensuring accurate documentation of medical and dental histories. Monitor vital signs and medical imaging to support comprehensive patient assessments, especially in pediatric dentistry cases. Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments following infection control protocols to maintain a safe clinical environment. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and assisting the dental receptionist with patient flow management. Educate patients on dental terminology, procedures, and post-treatment care to promote understanding and comfort. Assist with medical documentation and coding for billing purposes related to dental procedures involving medical records or insurance claims. Use knowledge of anatomy and dental terminology to accurately communicate treatment plans and assist in complex procedures involving prosthodontics or endodontics. Experience Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with a focus on expanded functions or chairside assisting in dentistry settings. Familiarity with Open Dental is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures. Experience working with pediatric patients and understanding pediatric dentistry protocols is a plus. Ability to operate dental imaging equipment Knowledge of dental terminology, dental coding, and documentation practices related to dental care is advantageous. Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and educate patients/parents about their treatments.
