Assisting the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures. Taking dental radiographs (x-rays). Asking about the patient's medical history and taking blood pressure and pulse. Preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment. Providing patients with oral care instructions following surgery and other procedures. Teaching patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health, including tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling. Taking impressions of patients' teeth for study casts (models of teeth). Performing office tasks. Communicating with patients and suppliers, which may involve scheduling appointments, answering the telephone, and billing. Qualifications Chairside assisting Dental terminology 3D scanner operation (ITERO) General dentistry knowledge Experience in using systems like Dentrix or Dentrix Ascend Knowledge of HIPAA regulations Ability to perform Four handed dentistry Competence in taking vital signs Understanding medical documentation Summary As a Dental Assistant, you will be an integral part of the dental team, providing chairside assistance and supporting various dental procedures.
