Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our dynamic dental team. As a Dental Hygienist, you will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive dental care, supporting general dentistry procedures, and ensuring a welcoming environment for patients of all ages. Your proficiency in dental terminology, infection control, and medical records management will contribute to the seamless operation of our practice. Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and calculus buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Assist with chairside procedures such as taking dental radiographs (medical imaging) and applying topical anesthetics. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions. Maintain accurate documentation of patient records, treatment plans, and medical coding in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support infection control protocols by adhering to aseptic techniques and sterilization procedures. Collaborate with dentists during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency and comfort. Monitor and record vital signs to ensure patient safety throughout treatment sessions. Keep abreast of current dental terminology, EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems, and updates in dental assisting practices. Experience Prior experience working as a Dental Hygienist within a busy dental clinic or healthcare setting is required. Proficiency in using dental software such as Dentrix is highly desirable. Demonstrated understanding of infection control standards and aseptic techniques necessary for safe practice. Familiarity with medical records review, documentation review, medical coding, and EMR systems ensures accurate record keeping. Experience in general dentistry settings with exposure to both adult and pediatric patients enhances adaptability. Strong foundation in dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology supports effective communication with team members and patients.
