Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs and reviewing medical histories to ensure safe treatment planning. Capture high-quality medical imaging such as X-rays, adhering to proper aseptic techniques and radiation safety protocols. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to foster long-term health. Maintain accurate and detailed electronic health records (EHR), including documentation review, medical coding, and treatment notes in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Manage infection prevention measures by sterilizing dental equipment, practicing strict infection control protocols, and ensuring a sterile environment at all times. Qualifications Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to perform dental hygiene procedures. Proven experience with dental office software for charting, scheduling, and record management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and dental equipment operation. Experience working in general dentistry settings. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs accurately and communicate effectively. Familiarity with healthcare infection prevention and control standards, including aseptic technique and HIPAA compliance management.
