Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Dental Hygienist to join our vibrant dental team on Mon, Tue, Wed & Fri's 8:30am-4:30pm. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional patient care by performing professional dental cleanings, assessments, and preventive treatments. Your expertise will help promote oral health and ensure our patients feel comfortable and confident during their visits. Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments, ensuring optimal oral health for each patient
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans
- Take dental radiographs (X-rays) accurately using appropriate dental imaging techniques while adhering to safety protocols
- Maintain detailed and accurate medical records and documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Open Dental
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health
- Follow infection prevention protocols by practicing aseptic techniques, sterilizing equipment, and managing healthcare infection control standards in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Skills
- Proficiency in dental software systems such as Open Dental for scheduling, documentation review, and dental coding
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and general dentistry procedures
- Experience with pediatric dentistry practices and working with pediatric patients in a compassionate manner
- Ability to assess vital signs accurately and recognize signs of medical emergencies or abnormalities during treatment
- Familiarity with medical imaging procedures including X-ray techniques for diagnostic purposes
- Excellent patient care skills with a focus on maintaining patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
- Knowledge of infection prevention management, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection control standards in a clinical setting
- Ability to operate dental equipment safely and effectively while adhering to OSHA guidelines
