Permanent Dental Assistant Job in Syracuse, NY

Job Title: Dental Assistantâ Mobile Screening & Oral Appliance Therapy Program Job Summary Join a unique care model where dental and medical converge. As our Dental Hygienist, you won't just support a dental practice â you'll be a frontline clinician in an innovative oral appliance therapy (OAT) program, performing on-site dental examinations, screening for periodontal disease, and capturing digital intraoral scans that directly translate into custom medical devices for patients. This is a rare opportunity to grow with a program at the intersection of dentistry and sleep medicine, in a setting where your clinical skill, entrepreneurial energy, and ability to build relationships all matter. We're looking for a positive, go-getter personality who's excited by growth â both the program's and their own â and who wants to be rewarded for it. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive dental examinations, including full oral cavity assessment, to evaluate patient candidacy for oral appliance therapy. Identify and document signs of periodontal disease and other oral health findings that inform treatment planning. Capture precise digital intraoral scans and bite registrations, ensuring scan quality meets manufacturer specifications for custom appliance fabrication. Prepare and maintain treatment areas, instruments, and supplies in accordance with sterilization and infection control standards. Maintain accurate, HIPAA-compliant patient records using EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic. Perform vital signs assessments and basic medical intake to support a combined dental-medical evaluation. Communicate clearly and warmly with patients of all ages, explaining procedures and easing any apprehension. Represent the program professionally in community, employer, and worksite settings â helping build local awareness and participation in the mobile screening service. Requirements Valid certification/licensure as a Registered Dental Assistant(RDA) or equivalent, in accordance with state or regional regulations. Demonstrated ability to perform dental examinations and recognize periodontal disease and other oral pathology. Hands-on proficiency with digital intraoral scanning technology and bite registration. Working knowledge of infection prevention, sterilization procedures, and aseptic technique. Familiarity with EMR/documentation platforms, preferred but not required(Dentrix, Nextgen, Epic, or similar). Strong grasp of dental and medical terminology. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable working independently in non-traditional, on-site settings (e.g., employer worksites, community locations). A positive, self-starting, go-getter attitude â someone energized by variety, new environments, and building something from the ground up. Natural networking instincts and comfort cross-marketing the program to patients, employers, and community partners. Growth Opportunity This role sits inside a program built for scale â one of the few settings where dental and medical care genuinely operate as one. As the program grows, so does your opportunity: we structure incentives around growth contribution, not just clinical volume, and top performers who help expand the program's reach are positioned for outsized advancement. If you're looking for a ceiling higher than a traditional dental practice offers, this is that setting. Pay: $27.95 - $33.65 per hour Benefits: Continuing education credits Paid time off Work Location: In person
