This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to grow your skills in a fast-paced, supportive setting dedicated to excellence in general dentistry and specialized fields such as prosthodontics, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, and periodontics. Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies, ensuring cleanliness and sterilization standards are met. Assist dentists during procedures by handing instruments, managing suction, and ensuring patient comfort. Take and record vital signs and medical histories to support accurate patient assessment. Manage dental and medical documentation accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate patients on post-treatment care instructions and answer questions regarding procedures or treatments. Maintain detailed records of dental procedures, medical coding, and treatment notes to support seamless clinic operations. Assist with radiographs (X-rays), prosthodontic preparations, orthodontic adjustments, pediatric dental care, oral surgery procedures, endodontic treatments, periodontic assessments, and other general dentistry services. Monitor patient vital signs before procedures to ensure safety during treatments involving sedation or anesthesia. Support the dental team by maintaining inventory levels of supplies and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental office role; prior experience in dental clinic environments is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical documentation standards. Familiarity with dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for scheduling, charting, billing, and record keeping. Ability to operate EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems efficiently while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Knowledge of various dental specialties including prosthodontics, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, periodontics; willingness to learn new techniques is essential. Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively about their treatments. Certification in Dental Assisting (e.g., CDA or RDA) is preferred; CPR certification is a plus. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing patient records and clinical tasks. Ability to stand for extended periods while assisting during procedures; comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
