Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Expanded Functions Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental practice. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care while assisting the dental team in various clinical and administrative tasks. This position requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, procedures, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, ensuring a smooth workflow through four-handed dentistry techniques. Prepare and maintain the treatment room, including sterilization of instruments and adherence to infection control protocols. Take and develop dental X-rays, ensuring compliance with safety standards and HIPAA regulations. Record patient medical history into Open Dental Provide chairside assistance during various dental procedures, including pediatric dentistry. Place restorations for pediatric and adult teeth Educate patients on post-operative care, oral hygiene practices, and treatment plans. Manage dental clinic operations by performing receptionist duties such as scheduling appointments and maintaining medical documentation. Utilize 3D scanners for imaging when necessary and assist with medical coding for insurance purposes. Qualifications Previous experience as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant in a clinical setting is preferred; familiarity with pediatric dentistry is a plus. Proficient in using EMR especially Open Dental Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and aseptic techniques. Ability to perform medical imaging and maintain accurate medical records while adhering to HIPAA guidelines. Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient care and comfort. Knowledge of infection control practices within a dental clinic environment is essential. Certification in Dental Assisting or relevant training is preferred; willingness to pursue further education is encouraged.
