Dental Assistant - Newport Beach, CA area

We are looking for a dependable, friendly, and versatile team member who is interested in becoming cross-trained in both front-office operations and dental assisting.

This position will initially be primarily front-office focused. However, we are absolutely open to candidates who are currently working as Dental Assistants and are motivated to learn front-office responsibilities. Prior front-office experience is helpful, but it is not required if you are organized, comfortable with technology, willing to learn, and have excellent communication skills.

A major part of this position involves interacting directly with patients, so being genuinely friendly, welcoming, patient, and professional is extremely important. We want every patient to feel comfortable and well taken care of from the moment they call or walk into the office.

The long-term goal is to have someone who understands both the clinical and administrative sides of the practice and can confidently provide support wherever needed.

Responsibilities may include:

• Primarily supporting front-office operations during the initial phase of employment

• Greeting patients warmly and creating a positive experience in the office

• Answering phones in a friendly and professional manner

• Scheduling, confirming, and managing patient appointments

• Checking patients in and out

• Collecting payments and discussing patient balances

• Learning and navigating Dentrix confidently

• Reviewing patient charts, treatment plans, insurance information, clinical notes, and appointment history

• Helping manage patient forms, referrals, records, and documentation

• Learning basic dental insurance, eligibility, and benefits workflows

• Reviewing the daily schedule and helping keep the office organized and running efficiently

• Providing reliable front-office coverage when another team member is absent, on vacation, or unavailable

• Assisting the dentist during restorative, cosmetic, surgical, and general dental procedures when needed

• Taking digital X-rays, intraoral photographs, and digital scans

• Preparing and turning over operatories

• Following sterilization and infection-control protocols

• Managing and tracking laboratory cases

• Helping monitor supplies and inventory

• Communicating with laboratories, vendors, and other dental providers

• Supporting both the front and back office wherever needed

Dentrix experience is strongly preferred, but we are willing to train the right person. Candidates should be comfortable learning new technology and software used throughout the practice.
