Registered Dental Assistant in Extended Functions 2 (RDAEF2) - Leopold and Murphy, DDS, Inc. - San Luis Obispo, CA
Permanent Dental Receptionist / Front Desk Job in San Luis Obispo, CA

RDAEF2 â Registered Dental Assistant in Extended Functions 2. Digital practice with iTero, Primescan and same-day CEREC. Four-day week with Mondays off, $32â$43 an hour plus monthly Team Bonus, at a family-owned (not corporate) practice serving San Luis Obispo since 1977. SLO Smiles is a family-owned and operated, top-rated dental practice in San Luis Obispo. We are seeking a full-time RDAEF2 with at least five years of clinical experience in general dentistry to join our clinical team in our most advanced assisting role. Our restorative workflow is almost entirely digital â iTero and Primescan scanning, chairside CEREC, same-day crowns â so scanning and same-day restorative experience is essential. This is a long-term position in an established practice, and we have structured the compensation, the schedule, and the role itself with retention in mind. Pay: $32.00 â $43.00 per hour, plus our monthly Team Bonus Base pay depends on experience and demonstrated skill â five or more years in a comparable general practice, with extended functions performed regularly and currently, starts higher in the range. And base pay is only part of the story: when the practice hits its goals, our entire team shares the success through a monthly Team Bonus, paid on every regular hour worked. Last year it added an average of $2.86 per hour to every team memberâs wages â in our strongest recent month, $7.21 per hour. It varies with practice performance (some months donât bonus), but when we win, everyone wins. Your schedule: four days a week, Mondays off You will work Tuesday through Friday, giving you a three-day weekend every week. We schedule a full hour for lunch each day, and daily overtime is paid at time-and-a-half when a shift runs long. About the role This is the most advanced clinical assisting position in a busy practice: 3 dentists, 6 hygienists, a front office team of six, and 55â60 patients through our doors each day. We are a digital practice, and this role sits at the center of that workflow. You will work at the top of your license â intraoral scanning on iTero and Primescan, digital impressions for permanent indirect restorations, chairside CEREC design and delivery in a same-day crown environment, placing, contouring and finishing direct restorations following the doctorâs preparation, and fabricating and placing temporaries. Two qualities matter most in this role, and we hire for both: Clinical excellence. Five or more years in general dentistry, extended functions you use regularly and are current on, real fluency with digital scanning and same-day restorative workflow, and the clinical judgment that comes from having seen a wide range of cases. Accuracy is our standard: we would rather you take an extra moment to verify than move quickly and assume. âSlow is smooth, smooth is fastâ is a working principle here, applied across every role in the practice. Collaboration and mentorship. As one of the most experienced clinical people in the building, you will be a resource for the rest of the team. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys that part of the work â who is approachable when a colleague has a question, shares knowledge readily, and helps newer assistants build their skills and confidence. A strong clinical team rests as much on how its members support one another as on individual technical ability, and we weigh both when we hire. A note on the daily schedule Most days you will be working within your extended functions. On some days, the schedule will call for you to seat patients, take radiographs, turn over operatories, and assist chairside in an RDA capacity. Every member of our clinical team contributes wherever the day requires it, and we mention this up front so that expectations are clear from the start. (So we know you read carefully: please include the word âkeystoneâ at the top of your pre-screening answers.) What youâll bring A current California RDAEF2 license in good standing At least 5 years of clinical experience in general dentistry (required) Hands-on intraoral scanning experience with iTero and/or Primescan, and working experience in a CEREC same-day crown environment (required) Current CPR/BLS certification and California radiation safety certification Extended functions you perform confidently and currently A collaborative approach to working with colleagues at every experience level, including a willingness to teach and mentor Willingness to work in an RDA capacity when the schedule requires it The ability to stay precise as the schedule fills and the day runs long â composure rather than speed Warm, above-average communication with patients and with the people you work alongside Strong computer skills: dental software, digital imaging, email Good employment references who can speak to your clinical work and to your collaboration with colleagues Preferred: CEREC design and milling experience beyond scanning, implant and surgical assisting, Eaglesoft and Dexis experience, and any history of training or mentoring other assistants. Pay: $32.00 - $43.00 per hour Benefits: Bereavement leave Employee discount Flexible spending account Health insurance Paid time off Retirement plan Uniform allowance Vision insurance Application Question(s): Which extended functions do you perform most often, and how recently?
