Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and root planing, to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical history reviews, to ensure safe and effective treatment. Take and develop dental radiographs, ensuring high-quality imaging for accurate diagnosis. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and treatment plans tailored to their needs. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using electronic health record (EHR) software (Dentrix), ensuring HIPAA compliance. Follow infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and infection control measures, to maintain a safe clinical environment. Manage dental equipment and supplies, ensuring all tools are sterilized and functioning correctly for optimal patient care. Review documentation for accuracy, including medical coding and charting, supporting seamless billing and recordkeeping. Communicate effectively with patients of all ages, including pediatric dentistry cases, to foster trust and promote ongoing oral health. Qualifications Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to perform dental procedures. Proven experience in general dentistry environments. Proficiency with dental software (Dentrix) for electronic health records management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dental care. Experience with dental x-ray procedures (dental imaging) and safety protocols. Familiarity with infection prevention management, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection control standards (HIPAA compliance).
