Permanent Dental Assistant Job in San Antonio, TX
REQUIRED - PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING Minimum 1 year of hands-on dental assisting experience is REQUIRED. Must have an ACTIVE Texas Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license. This is not a trainee or externship position. About the Role MySmile Dental in San Antonio is looking for an experienced, dependable, and motivated Dental Assistant to join our team. We use Open Dental. We need someone who can confidently work chairside in a busy general dentistry office, assist the doctor efficiently from day one, and help give every patient an excellent experience. What You Will Do - Chairside assisting during restorative, crown and bridge, extractions, root canals, and other general dental procedures. - Set up and break down operatories between patients. - Take dental X-rays (FMX, bitewings, PAs, panoramic) and digital scans/impressions. - Sterilize instruments and maintain proper infection-control procedures. - Prepare materials, instruments, and trays for each procedure. - Keep operatories clean, organized, and properly stocked; track supplies and reorder as needed. - Enter clinical notes, procedures, and treatment planned in Open Dental as directed by the doctor. - Communicate professionally with patients and team members and help keep patient flow on schedule. - Follow all OSHA, HIPAA, and infection-control requirements. Requirements (experience is required) - At least 1 year of dental assisting experience in a working dental office. - ACTIVE Texas RDA license (required by state law to take X-rays). - Comfortable and competent taking X-rays. - Strong four-handed chairside assisting skills. - Reliable, punctual, and professional with patients. - Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. - Organized, detail-oriented, and a team player willing to help wherever needed. Preferred - Experience with extractions, endodontics, crown and bridge, and restorative procedures. - Experience with digital scanning (iTero, Primescan, or similar). - Open Dental experience. - Bilingual English/Spanish. - Nitrous oxide monitoring certification.
