Cross Trained - Surgical Dental Assistant/Front Desk Administration– Implants & Oral Surgery East Bay Center for Dental Excellence Largo, FL $22–$27 per hour, based on experience East Bay Center for Dental Excellence is seeking an experienced, confident, and highly motivated Surgical Dental Assistant to join our growing practice in Largo, Florida. We are a startup practice in an exciting stage of growth , and we are looking for someone who wants more than just another dental assisting position. We want an assistant who is excited about the opportunity to grow with the practice, help establish strong clinical and administrative systems, and become an important part of our long-term team. Because we are building and growing, the right candidate will be competent and confident in their clinical skills , dependable, adaptable, and comfortable taking initiative. We operate as a team, which means this position will primarily focus on clinical and surgical assisting but will also help support the front office when needed. Clinical & Surgical Responsibilities Assist the doctor during surgical and restorative dental procedures Assist with dental implant placement, extractions, bone grafting, periodontal procedures, and other oral surgery procedures Prepare surgical operatories, instruments, materials, and equipment Maintain proper sterile technique and infection-control protocols Take digital radiographs and assist with CBCT imaging Review and update patient medical histories Obtain and document patient vital signs Assist with surgical sedation cases as permitted by training and Florida regulations Provide patients with pre-operative and post-operative instructions Accurately document clinical notes and treatment information Maintain surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies Monitor surgical inventory and help establish efficient inventory systems Help develop and maintain clinical workflows as the practice grows Maintain efficient patient flow throughout the clinical day Provide compassionate, professional care to patients who may be nervous or anxious about surgery Front Office & Patient Coordination Responsibilities As a growing practice, every team member plays an important role in the patient experience. The ideal candidate should be comfortable stepping in to assist with front-office responsibilities when necessary, including: Answering incoming phone calls professionally and assisting patients with questions Scheduling and confirming patient appointments Checking patients in and out when necessary Collecting patient payments and accurately documenting transactions Reviewing treatment plans with patients as needed Understanding that insurance benefits are estimates and communicating estimated patient responsibility appropriately Reviewing treatment plans for correct procedures, fees, insurance estimates, and patient portions Assisting with insurance verification and obtaining benefit information when necessary Helping patients understand financial arrangements and available payment options Communicating effectively between the clinical and administrative sides of the practice Helping maintain an organized and professional front-office environment Who We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is: Experienced, competent, and confident in their dental assisting skills Comfortable assisting with surgical procedures Proactive and able to anticipate the doctor's and patient's needs Comfortable communicating with patients about treatment and financial responsibilities Familiar with dental insurance terminology and treatment plans Organized and highly attentive to detail Comfortable taking ownership of their responsibilities Dependable and consistent Able to work independently without needing constant direction Adaptable and willing to help wherever needed Comfortable working both clinically and administratively Professional, compassionate, and confident when communicating with patients Excited about being part of a growing practice Interested in building a long-term career with our team This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced assistant who enjoys being involved in multiple aspects of a dental practice and wants to help build strong systems from the ground up. Qualifications Dental assisting experience required Surgical dental assisting experience strongly preferred Dental implant and oral surgery experience highly preferred Full-arch/All-on-X experience is a plus Experience with dental insurance and treatment plans preferred Knowledge of surgical instruments, sterile technique, and infection control Dental radiography certification as required by Florida law Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) credentials preferred Current CPR/BLS certification preferred Strong communication, organizational, and customer-service skills Ability to remain calm, focused, and organized in a fast-paced environment Experience with dental implants, bone grafting, periodontal surgery, full-arch implant cases, surgical extractions, sedation dentistry, dental insurance, and treatment coordination is especially valuable. Schedule Full-Time Monday–Thursday: 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Compensation $22.00–$27.00 per hour Compensation will be based on overall dental assisting experience, surgical experience, administrative experience, certifications, and experience with implant and full-arch procedures.
