Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive orthodontic assessments, including dental diagnosis and patient evaluation to develop personalized treatment plans. Utilize advanced orthodontic appliances such as braces, aligners, and retainers to correct malocclusions and improve dental function. Collaborate with general dentists and other specialists to coordinate comprehensive patient care, including pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, and prosthodontics when necessary. Perform procedures related to dental extractions, dental implants, and other oral surgeries that support orthodontic treatments. Maintain accurate medical documentation, including medical records, dental terminology, and treatment progress notes in compliance with HIPAA and state healthcare regulations. Ensure infection control protocols are strictly followed using aseptic techniques during all procedures. Educate patients on oral health maintenance, post-treatment care, and the importance of regular dental visits to ensure long-term success of orthodontic interventions. Skills Proficiency in orthodontic software such as Epic or Eaglesoft for treatment planning and record keeping. Extensive knowledge of dental imaging techniques and anatomy relevant to orthodontics. Strong understanding of healthcare diagnosis, dental terminology, and general dentistry principles. Experience with pediatric dentistry, including treating young patients with specialized needs. Ability to perform dental fabrication tasks related to braces, aligners, and retainers. Skilled in client communication to explain treatment options clearly and foster trust with patients of all ages. Familiarity with infection control standards and aseptic techniques within a dental clinic setting. Ideal candidates will have a background in four-handed dentistry to optimize efficiency during procedures, along with experience in endodontics, oral surgery, prosthodontics, and root canal therapy as they relate to orthodontic care. A strong commitment to patient care excellence combined with knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards is essential for success in this role.
