Mission of Dental Assistant
The Pediatric Dental Assistant reports to the Practice Administrator. The mission of the Pediatric Dental Assistant is to help facilitate parent and patient understanding of the treatment needed as well assisting the doctor with chair side dental procedures. The Pediatric Dental Assistant is accountable for creating a relationship with parents and patients, assisting the doctor to increase doctor production. The Pediatric Dental Assistant must be knowledgeable about dentistry and be able to work with the doctor in a wider variety of dental procedures. The Pediatric Dental Assistant must become credentialed at the hospital where our Pediatric Dentist goes.

Key Responsibilities
Seating patient and provide patient comfort
Updating health histories and taking vital signs
Be completely prepared for procedure prior to the dentist coming in treatment room
Assisting chair side with dentist with a wide variety of procedures
Taking x-rays
Taking impressions, pouring up impressions and lab work
Some independent work with patients (seating crowns, adjusting dentures, applying fluoride, and more) within the assistantâs scope of practice
Ordering and putting supplies away. As well as stocking rooms
Patient education about procedures
Cleaning and setting up rooms
Sterilizing instruments
Equipment maintenance and upkeep
Going to the hospital for General Anesthesia cases and other duties not listed
