Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly according to infection control protocols. Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing chairside support with precision and efficiency. Take dental X-rays using digital imaging technology such as 3D scanners and medical imaging tools while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and safety standards. Manage patient records accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) systems we use Open Dental in our office , ensuring all documentation complies with HIPAA guidelines. Monitor vital signs and assess patient comfort levels before, during, and after treatments to promote a safe environment. Educate patients on oral health practices and post-treatment care instructions using clear dental terminology. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries as a dental receptionist, and managing medical documentation efficiently. Maintain aseptic techniques and infection control standards to prevent cross-contamination across all clinical activities. Collaborate seamlessly in a four-handed dentistry setup with the dentist to optimize workflow and patient outcomes. Keep up-to-date with advancements in dental technology and procedures related to pediatric dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, and general dentistry to enhance service quality. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting with knowledge of dental assisting procedures. Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; experience with Open Dental or similar platforms is a plus. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations concerning patient privacy and medical records management. Skilled in taking X-rays, including digital imaging techniques like 3D scanning and medical imaging tools. Familiarity with dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques essential for clinical excellence. Ability to perform vital signs assessment and assist with chairside procedures across various specialties including pediatric dentistry and prosthodontics. Excellent communication skills suitable for explaining treatments clearly to patients of all ages; experience working with pediatric patients is advantageous. Certification in radiography or X-ray licensing preferred; additional certifications in medical coding or pediatric dentistry are beneficial but not mandatory.
