Duties Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize dental instruments following strict aseptic techniques to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and surgical procedures, providing chairside support with precision and confidence. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), including 3D scans when applicable, accurately documenting findings for diagnosis and treatment planning. Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix ensuring all medical documentation complies with HIPAA regulations. Perform vital signs assessments and review medical histories to support comprehensive patient evaluations. Educate patients on oral health care practices and post-treatment instructions to promote ongoing dental wellness. Support the front desk team by handling dental receptionist duties such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow efficiently. Skills Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry and chairside support. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques. Experience with EMR systems like Dentrix for accurate medical documentation and record keeping. Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners with precision. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices and working effectively with children of all ages. Understanding of HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality at all times. Excellent communication skills to interact confidently with patients, team members, and external providers.
