Overview We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Lead Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in dental assisting, with a strong emphasis on leadership, clinical expertise, and patient care. As the Lead Dental Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supervising daily operations within the dental clinic, ensuring seamless patient experiences, and maintaining the highest standards of infection control and clinical excellence. This position offers an opportunity to lead a team of dental assistants while supporting general and specialized dentistry services, including pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics. Duties Oversee daily clinical operations, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality patient care. Supervise and mentor dental assistants, fostering a collaborative and professional team environment. Assist with chairside procedures across various specialties such as general dentistry, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Maintain accurate medical documentation and records in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Operate and manage electronic medical records (EMR) systems including Eaglesoft, Dentrix, and Epic for scheduling, billing, and documentation purposes. Prepare treatment rooms with proper aseptic technique and infection control protocols to ensure patient safety. Take and interpret X-rays and other medical imaging using advanced equipment like 3D scanners. Perform vital signs assessment and assist with medical history updates to support comprehensive patient evaluations. Coordinate with dental receptionists to ensure smooth patient flow from check-in to checkout. Ensure all clinical equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and compliant with safety standards. Support the training of new staff members in dental terminology, medical coding, and clinic procedures related to pediatrics and general dentistry. Skills Extensive knowledge of dental assisting procedures including chairside assisting, X-ray techniques, and vital signs measurement. Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Epic, along with medical documentation practices. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security. Experience with infection control protocols and aseptic techniques within a dental setting. Ability to lead a team effectively while maintaining high standards of clinical excellence and patient satisfaction. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices and procedures specific to childrenâs oral health needs. Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, medical coding, and anatomy relevant to dentistry. Competence in operating advanced imaging technology including 3D scanners for diagnostic purposes. Excellent organizational skills for managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with patients, staff members, and external healthcare providers.
