Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Hygienist to join our reputable dental practice. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care, performing dental cleanings, and assisting with various clinical procedures. Responsibilities Perform dental prophylaxis, including scaling and polishing teeth to prevent disease and promote oral health. Perform Scaling and Root Planing with local anesthesia. Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and evaluating oral health status. Take X-rays while maintaining proper infection control protocols. Document all procedures accurately in electronic medical records (Open Dental) following documentation review standards. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and preventive measures. Maintain aseptic technique throughout all clinical procedures to prevent cross-contamination. Review medical coding and documentation to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations. Adhere to HIPAA guidelines to protect patient privacy and confidentiality at all times. Stay updated on dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control practices, and current industry standards. Qualifications Valid Dental Hygienist license in accordance with state regulations. Proficiency in EMR systems such as Open Dental or Dentrix is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, and dental coding practices. Experience with vital signs measurement, medical imaging, and documentation review processes. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations. Knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and anatomy relevant to dental hygiene practice. Ability to work effectively within a team environment while maintaining high standards of professionalism and confidentiality.
