Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to promote optimal oral health. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and preventive care strategies tailored to individual needs. Assist with chairside procedures, including taking dental radiographs (medical imaging) and applying topical anesthetics. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and dental office protocols. Ensure infection control standards are upheld through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization of instruments. Support the dental team by providing assistance during various procedures, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency. Qualifications Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification. Proficiency in dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly desirable. Experience working in general dentistry practices, with knowledge of pediatric dentistry preferred. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical coding practices. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively and empathetically. Knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and medical records management. Prior experience with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems and documentation review is advantageous.
