Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in dental assisting procedures, patient care, and clinic operations, with a passion for promoting oral health and providing exceptional patient experiences. As a Dental Assistant, you will support dentists during procedures, manage patient records, and ensure the highest standards of infection control and safety are maintained throughout the clinic. Responsibilities Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring an aseptic environment in accordance with infection control protocols. Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging technology such as 3D scanners and medical imaging equipment while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Manage patient records accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, including medical documentation and coding. Provide chairside assistance by handling dental instruments, maintaining proper dental terminology communication, and supporting four-handed dentistry techniques. Monitor vital signs of patients when necessary and assist with pediatric dentistry procedures with patience and professionalism. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist and managing patient flow efficiently. Maintain knowledge of anatomy relevant to dentistry to assist with diagnosis support and treatment planning. Qualifications Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with familiarity in general dentistry procedures. Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, along with experience using Epic or similar medical documentation platforms. Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization protocols aligned with OSHA standards. Strong understanding of dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding related to dental records. Experience assisting with pediatric dentistry cases and understanding of pediatric-specific needs. Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners effectively. Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with patients of all ages while demonstrating empathy and patience. Certification in dental assisting or equivalent training is preferred; ongoing education in specialized areas such as prosthodontics or endodontics is advantageous.
