Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing teeth to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Take and evaluate vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration to assess patient health status. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth workflow and patient comfort. Conduct medical imaging procedures like X-rays with proper aseptic technique, ensuring accurate diagnostic results. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term health. Review medical records and documentation to ensure accurate patient histories and treatment plans are maintained in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support infection control protocols by sterilizing instruments, maintaining a clean clinical environment, and adhering to OSHA standards. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice in a clinical setting. Proficiency with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and record keeping. Experience working in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments; pediatric dentistry experience is highly valued. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control procedures. Skilled in chairside assisting techniques including patient assessment, medical coding, and documentation review. Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems to accurately document patient interactions and treatment details.
