We are looking for a highly motivated, compassionate dental assistant to assist in surgical procedures. Moderate experience in assisting with oral surgeries and implants is preferred and experience with sedation is a plus! The best candidate for this position shows great initiative, actively contributing to the overall smooth and successful operation of the practice. They work very well in a team environment, are well-organized, and understand the importance of attention to detail, prioritizing the patient's comfort and safety. They communicate professionally and effectively with patients, doctors, and coworkers, practicing good listening skills and using respectful tone and verbiage at all times. They must be able to follow instructions, acclimate to new dental software and technology, and they must be able to take feedback well , using it to grow and hone their skills. Dental Assistant Responsibilities Welcome patients in the dental office Prepare patients for treatments ensuring their comfort Assist the dentist with consults as needed Make required entries to the patient record accurately and consistently Select and set up instruments, equipment and materials needed Assist the dentist with surgical procedures Monitor patients under sedation and post surgery Check and document vital signs, throughout procedures Undertake lab tasks as instructed Provide patients with post-operative care instructions Keep the treatment rooms clean and well-stocked Sterilize instruments according to regulations Obtain x-rays Schedule appointments Prepare information needed for treatment pre-authorizations Maintain accurate patient records and assist with payment procedures Dental Assistant Skills Knowledge and experience in dental assisting required Must be comfortable working in surgical settings Experience with surgeries under sedation is a plus Knowledge and experience should include: familiarity with dental instruments, sterilization methods, and an understanding of health & safety regulations Must be able to maintain composure and work effectively in emergency situations Solid computer skills required, must be able to acclimate to new patient management software and technologies Excellent communication and people skills Ability to work well in a team environment that consists of members with varying backgrounds, approaches, and personalities.
