Responsibilities Assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring aseptic techniques are followed meticulously. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), including digital imaging and 3D scans, ensuring patient safety and compliance with HIPAA regulations. Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy in medical documentation and records management. Perform vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures to support overall health monitoring. Educate patients on post-treatment care, dental terminology, and preventive practices to promote oral health awareness. Support administrative tasks such as greeting patients as a dental receptionist, scheduling appointments, and managing medical coding for billing purposes. Maintain infection control standards by adhering to OSHA guidelines and proper sterilization protocols to ensure a safe clinical environment. Experience Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant in a busy dental clinic setting with knowledge of general dentistry procedures. Familiarity with dental assisting software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; experience with Epic or similar medical record systems is a plus. Hands-on experience with chairside assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry and instrument transfer. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques essential for safe practice. Experience taking X-rays (including digital imaging) and operating 3D scanners; familiarity with medical imaging standards is preferred. Understanding of HIPAA regulations related to medical records and patient privacy; ability to handle sensitive information responsibly. Background in pediatric dentistry or pediatrics is advantageous for working with young patients effectively.
