Overview Join our dynamic dental team as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EDDA), where your skills will directly enhance patient care and treatment efficiency. In this vital role, you will support dentists by performing advanced chairside procedures, managing patient flow, and ensuring the highest standards of infection control and patient safety. Your expertise in dental assisting combined with your knowledge of dental terminology, medical documentation, and state-of-the-art technology will help us deliver exceptional dental services in a fast-paced, friendly environment. This paid position offers a rewarding opportunity to grow professionally while making a meaningful difference in patients’ oral health. We have a unique 3-Day schedule, 12 hour days with alternating Wednesday and Saturdays. Must be available to work 2 Saturdays a month. Bilingual is a plus! Responsibilities Assist dentists during complex procedures such as prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry with precision and confidence. Perform chairside assisting using aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment and prevent infection. Take and develop X-rays, including 3D scans, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Manage patient records using EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, dental procedures, and medical coding. Gather vital signs and medical history information to support comprehensive patient assessments. Support front desk operations by coordinating appointment scheduling, updating medical records, and assisting the dental receptionist as needed. Maintain infection control standards through proper sterilization procedures and adherence to OSHA guidelines. Educate patients on treatment plans, post-operative care, and oral health practices to promote ongoing wellness. Support general dentistry procedures with expertise in anatomy knowledge, dental terminology, and clinical techniques for pediatric patients when necessary. Experience Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with a focus on expanded functions or chairside assisting in a busy dental clinic setting. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems. EagleSoft experience is highly desirable. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to medical documentation and patient privacy is essential. Experience working within pediatric dentistry or general dentistry environments is preferred. Certification in X-ray certification and proficiency in taking digital radiographs including 3D imaging is required. Strong understanding of infection control protocols, aseptic technique, and dental terminology to ensure safe clinical practices. Ability to perform medical imaging accurately while maintaining patient comfort and safety.
