Duties
- Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and ready for use.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, while adhering to strict radiation safety protocols.
- Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Open Dental, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support infection control practices through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization procedures to maintain a safe clinical environment.
- Gather vital signs and medical history information from patients to assist in comprehensive treatment planning.
- Coordinate with the dental reception team to schedule appointments, update medical documentation, and facilitate smooth patient flow.
Skills
- Proficiency with dental software platforms including Open Dental for managing medical records and documentation.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dental care.
- Experience with chairside assisting techniques such as four-handed dentistry to enhance efficiency during procedures.
- Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners with precision.
- Familiarity with infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and sterilization processes essential for maintaining a safe clinic environment.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with dentists, hygienists, reception staff, and patients of all ages—especially pediatrics.
