Duties Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and dental surgery, ensuring all instruments and materials are prepared efficiently. Operate and maintain dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and medical imaging tools while adhering to infection control and aseptic techniques. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed to protect patient health. Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic, documenting treatment details accurately and securely in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Perform vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures to ensure a positive experience. Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment by following infection control standards and sterilization procedures aligned with healthcare regulations. Collaborate with team members in four-handed dentistry setups to optimize workflow efficiency during patient care. Experience Previous experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, with familiarity in general dentistry procedures and oral surgery dentistry. Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and infection control practices. Hands-on experience with dental software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for managing medical records and documentation is desirable. Knowledge of medical coding and medical documentation standards to ensure accurate billing and recordkeeping. Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray units and 3D scanners while maintaining safety protocols. Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance to protect patient privacy at all times. Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain procedures clearly using appropriate dental terminology for patients of all ages, especially pediatrics.
