Permanent Dental Receptionist / Front Desk Job in Philadelphia, PA

Our dental office in the Fairmount/Art Museum area of Philadelphia is seeking a dedicated and organized dental assistant with front desk experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our dental office by managing patient interactions, scheduling appointments, and maintaining accurate records as well as assisting with dental procedures. We have assisting/front desk coverage at present, but need additional support that is cross-trained. This position requires strong administrative skills, excellent phone etiquette, and familiarity with medical scheduling and coding, particularly in the dental field. We are looking for an assistant/front desk to work 3-4 days/week. Our office hours are Monday to Wednesday 9am-6pm with a 1 hour lunch break and one Saturday a month from 9am-2pm with no lunch. Duties include: Chair-side assisting the general dentist utilizing accepted four-handed dental techniques for common restorative procedures Using accepted dental radiographic techniques to produce diagnostic radiographs Being familiar with dental terminology Performing basic dental laboratory procedures Performing accepted dental sterilization techniques Maintaining the inventory of supplies and equipment Assisting in preparing and maintaining dental records Assisting in teaching new employees assigned duties Covering front desk scheduling, calls when receptionist is away Greet patients warmly and provide exceptional customer service throughout their visit. Manage appointment scheduling and confirmations for patients, ensuring optimal use of the dentist's time. Handle incoming phone calls with professionalism, addressing inquiries and directing calls as necessary. Maintain patient records accurately, including updating information and managing files in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Process insurance claims, including Medicare, and assist patients with understanding their coverage options. Utilize ICD-10 coding for accurate billing and record-keeping. Communicate effectively with patients regarding treatment plans, follow-up appointments, and any necessary paperwork. Other duties as assigned Educational requirements: High school diploma Dental Assistant Certification preferred but not required Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred but not required Experience: General Dental Assisting: 1 year Front desk: Strong administrative skills with proficiency in medical scheduling and coding.
